Paintings from my Layers series.

These paintings started with a quite literal reflection of a lone woman looking out on to historic Istanbul, a city with so much diversity and depth an artist can never free herself. The tug and pull of the Bosphorus had captured my heart and I too became a part of the discordant cacophony that is the rhythm of this city.

As a foreigner living in Turkey I have spent many years with the sensation of being an outsider looking in, but at the same time the lines, colours and strokes of this land are an integral part of me and I have become local.
